Trading Stickers: The newest way to connect

We’ve all traded hockey cards, matchbox cars, or letters with a pen pal. Now, we are trading stickers! More specifically, we are sending RV inspired stickers around the world.

Many trailer owners have been trading personalized stickers for years, like Ashley and Morgan. They own Flying Ham Rentals (on Instagram @flyinghamrentals) based in Nashville, TN, and noticed that other trailer owners were creating stickers as well. In January 2020, they started an Instagram account to showcase the creative stickers they had received over the years. However, it soon became a way to facilitate trading and connection within the trailer community. And the RV Sticker Club was born (on Instagram @rvstickerclub).

The RV Sticker Club is free to join and open to anyone with a love of adventure. When trading, you can expect to receive stickers that depict trailers, RVs, vans, buses, tents or any other outdoor recreation vehicle. The options are endless.

If you are interested in creating your own sticker, The RV Sticker Club has created a little how- to guide. If you have the creative ability, I would suggest making a logo of your own design using a website like Canva. Not so creative? That’s no problem. The RV Sticker club has provided a list of graphic artists on their website that you can work with. I suggest looking through their work and choosing someone who’s creative style you like best. When you reach out, it is a great idea to send photos of your recreational vehicle and other inspirational photos that will help the artist capture your love for adventure

in sticker form.

Not sure how many you should order to start? The RV Sticker Club suggests that new sticker traders should order between 100 and 200 stickers to begin. They also suggest printing stickers at Sticker Giant. Ashley and Morgan have received more than 300 stickers to date!

Where can you expect to send and receive stickers from? Anywhere! Along with many traded within North America, Ashley and Morgan have also received trades from the UK, Germany, Australia, and France. One of their suggestions for future trades is to purchase “Global Forever” stamps. These stamps allow a letter to be sent anywhere overseas. Ashley was often running to the post office to weigh and stamp international packages but having stamps at home has streamlined the process.

Unsure about how to connect with other sticker traders? A simple DM will suffice. Many trailer owners have added photos of their stickers to their Instagram which makes it easier to meet people willing to trade. It is best practice to offer a trade, as Ashley said, “We hope people know the RV sticker Club isn’t just about getting free stickers, it’s all about meeting people through Instagram and then connecting with a personal card/letter.”

In an age where we find ourselves less connected, RV Sticker club is encouraging connection, even if it is from a distance. Trading stickers is a one way to meet new people, encourage others within the trailer community, and offer support during these difficult times.

Do you trade stickers? Post a photo below, we would love to see!
