If you, like me, bought a trailer out of province, you might also have some logistical issues trying to retrieve it. While insurance and registrations offices will think you're a nightmare, it's a lot easier than you think. Here is my experience!

Getting There
Be prepared! I mean it. You're dealing with a vehicle and a trailer so there are always things that can go wrong. Here are some things that we would have not made it home without:
A BCAA (or equivalent) membership
Of course, take what ever else will make you comfortable. These are just my suggestions.
Cross-Province Transfer
I will be honest, I was blindsided by the cost of transferring an out of province vehicle. I had asked a lot of questions, but I never thought to ask about this. I was charged approximately $800 to transfer my Boler from Alberta to B.C. This may look different for each owner, depending on your province, insurance provider, and how much your monthly coverage is.
Where to Sleep
If you are looking forward to a long day of travel, make a plan for where you will sleep for the night. Not only will this first night away be a great opportunity to start dreaming about your future plans and adventure (like I did—see my post 'The First 48'), it will much safer to travel home fully rested. Thankfully, we were able to park our trailer at a friends house in Red Deer, which meant we didn't have to search for camping in the off season. However, there are lots of private camp sites that often have either an over-flow section or that leave spots empty for those that arrive without a reservation. Be mindful and think ahead, or else you may be stuck in a Walmart parking lot (which isn't an entirely bad option either).
Boler Tip:
Ask your insurance provider ahead of time what the transfer cost may be so you can factor it into your initial purchase price.
